AIS Contact Center Nakhon Ratchasima and Oklin Thailand Turn Food Waste into Fertilizer to Support Local School’s “Vegetable Sharing Garden” Project

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand – AIS Contact Center Nakhon Ratchasima, in collaboration with Oklin (Thailand) Co., Ltd., has launched the “Vegetable Sharing Garden – Nutritious Lunch for Kids” initiative, transforming cafeteria food waste into high-quality organic fertilizer. A total of 300 kilograms of organic fertilizer, produced from 1,765 kilograms of food waste collected from the AIS Contact Center cafeteria, was donated to Khok Phet Saramonora School in Muang Nakhon Ratchasima District. The fertilizer was formally handed over to Mr. Wirat Tichantuek, the school’s director, by Ms. Suchina Khanchantuek, Customer Relations Manager, AIS Nakhon Ratchasima.

The initiative uses the Oklin Composter, a biotechnology-based food waste treatment machine capable of decomposing organic waste within 24 hours, reducing food waste volume by 80–90%. The resulting organic fertilizer is then reused for growing vegetables in the school garden, reducing costs, improving food security, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices.

From an environmental perspective, this project has made a significant impact:

  • Reduced 4,447 kgCO₂e in carbon footprint
  • Prevented 71 kg of methane emissions from landfills
  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to eliminating 2,614 diesel vehicle trips over 10 kilometers

Beyond environmental benefits, the program also provides a practical learning platform for students, teaching them about sustainability, waste segregation, and the circular economy concept, where resources are reused and recycled to create continuous value.

Ms. Suchina Khanchantuek emphasized that AIS is committed to environmental stewardship and community well-being, promoting waste separation within the organization and ensuring that food waste is transformed into something valuable. This approach benefits not only the company but also the community and the environment, paving the way toward a low-carbon society.
