The event aimed to create a platform for exchanging ideas and solutions to address these challenges, ensuring that people can live sustainably with the planet in the future.

The event was honored by Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, who presided over the opening ceremony and participated in a panel discussion. Key participants included:

The event was held at Ecotopia, 3rd floor, Siam Discovery – The Exploratorium.

The event featured two main panel discussion topics:

Topic 1: “Green and The City – The Current State of the Urban Environment”
This session focused on discussing and exchanging perspectives on environmental issues affecting Bangkok residents. It also highlighted citizen-led efforts to protect the environment, aiming to raise awareness that climate change is a pressing issue closely connected to everyone’s daily life. The session encouraged collaboration in seeking solutions.
Guest speakers included Maria Poonlertlarp, founder of SOS EARTH and Miss Universe Thailand 2017, and Wilawan Panyang, co-founder of Environman. The discussion was moderated by Jreerath Phetsoms, Environmental Ambassador from the World Environmental Foundation and Miss Earth Fire 2021.

Topic 2: “Towards a Sustainable Future – Bangkok as a City of Sustainability”
This topic was divided into three segments:

  1. Opening segmentMr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, shared his views on environmental policies for Bangkok—a city with over 10 million cars, more skyscrapers than trees, and exceptionally high electricity consumption. The discussion explored whether environmental restoration is truly possible under such conditions and what actions are necessary to achieve it.

  2. Main discussionMr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Singh Intrachooto, Chief Advisor at the Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center, discussed the BMA Net Zero Waste goal (Bangkok Carbon Neutral) and the importance of waste separation and upcycling as key starting points toward building a sustainable city.

  3. Q&A sessionMr. Chadchart Sittipunt engaged in an open question-and-answer session with members of the public attending the event.
