THE STANDARD ECONOMIC FORUM 2024 – Young Leaders Dialogue
Session: In Partnership with Rold – A Deep Dive Into the Rule of Law
All content and panel discussions curated exclusively by Rold.

The session opened with a keynote address on the Rule of Law by Dr. Pises Soadyen, Director of the Thailand Institute of Justice, followed by a panel discussion featuring Kulvej Janvatanavit, CEO of the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD); Parit “Prich” Rangsimanont, Co-Founder of Lulu Technology Co., Ltd.; Ukris “Uk” Unelekha, Chairman and Co-Founder of Ricult (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Dr. Tassawan Preedavipart, Director of the Social Design Center at Chulalongkorn University; and Nattakarn Klawvuthanan, Managing Director of Oklin (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

While the Rule of Law can be difficult to define in universally agreed terms, it inevitably affects a nation and its justice system. In October 2024, the World Justice Project rated Thailand’s rule of law at 0.5 out of 1, ranking 78th in the world. This score was based on factors including constraints on government powers, absence of corruption, law enforcement, transparency, and dispute resolution processes. Beyond its legal dimensions, the Rule of Law also carries significant business implications, as many countries use it as a measure of state credibility.

The Rule of Law is not the responsibility of any single person. For it to take root in society, people must first recognize signs of irregularity or feel that something is “off” in certain situations—then invite others to share that same awareness. We must keep questioning, believe that change is possible, and most importantly, act together, regardless of our role or position in the country. This is the essence of being an Active Citizen, the driving force that makes the Rule of Law possible.
