Oklin Thailand and Stars Technology Deliver 3 Tons of Plant Nutrients from Over 17.6 Tons of Food Waste to Rayong Farmers
Oklin (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a leader in organic waste management technology producing high-quality plant nutrient fertilizers, partnered with Stars Technology Industrial Co., Ltd., manufacturer of Mitsuboshi “Three Stars” power transmission belts, to deliver 3 tons of plant nutrients to farmer groups in Rayong Province. The handover ceremony, held on June 10, 2025, at Rayong Provincial Hall, was presided over by Ms. Slariewan Thaptavee, Deputy Governor of Rayong Province.
The plant nutrients were produced using Oklin’s advanced biotechnology to process over 17.6 tons of food waste, effectively reducing landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
From Plate to Farmland – Turning Organic Waste into Power
If the processed food waste had been landfilled, it would have emitted methane (CH₄)—a greenhouse gas with 80 times the heat-trapping potential of carbon dioxide. Instead, through aerobic composting, the project avoided more than 4 tCO₂e of methane emissions—equivalent to the carbon absorption of over 200 trees per year.
Empowering Farmers – Restoring the Environment
The Rayong farmer groups will use the plant nutrients to restore soil health, nourish crops, and reduce chemical use, benefiting both consumer and farmer health, lowering production costs, and improving crop quality in the long term.
This initiative also promotes sustainable resource management at the community level, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Rayong Model – Driving Industrial Cities Toward Green Transformation
Rayong, one of Thailand’s key industrial hubs, demonstrates through this initiative the potential of waste management technology to build a tangible circular economy. The project showcases the power of public-private partnerships in transforming industrial cities in line with sustainable development principles.
Deputy Governor Ms. Slariewan Thaptavee praised the project, stating, “This activity not only benefits farmers but also showcases the power of turning waste into a driving force for communities, serving as an example of cooperation that addresses economic, social, and environmental goals.”
Stars Technology Industrial Co., Ltd. plans to continue delivering plant nutrients in the future and expand support to other agencies, organizations, and communities interested in using them for agriculture, green spaces, or environmental projects, thereby promoting sustainable resource use and reducing environmental impact on a wider scale.
