Oklin Thailand: Driving Greenhouse Gas Reduction Towards a Low-Carbon Future

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century, and Thailand is not immune to its impacts. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions has become a national priority, requiring collaboration from all sectors — government, civil society, and the private sector. One private organization making a clear and measurable impact in this area is Oklin (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Supporting Domestic Greenhouse Gas Reduction Projects

Oklin Thailand is more than just a distributor and installer of food waste composting machines that transform waste into fertilizer within 24 hours. The company plays an active role in supporting domestic greenhouse gas reduction projects with the ultimate goal of helping Thailand cut net emissions and transition towards a low-carbon society.

Recently, Oklin Thailand offset 44 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (Scope 1 + Scope 2) through the Production of Soil Application from Organic Waste at Yasothon Town Municipality project, under credit ID TH-21-4549737-4549780-1-1-54.

What is a Carbon Credit and Why is it Important?

A carbon credit is an environmental-economic mechanism — essentially a “permit” allowing the emission of a certain amount of greenhouse gases. If an organization reduces its emissions below a set threshold, it earns credits that can be sold to other entities or used to offset its own emissions.

The Yasothon Town project takes organic waste and processes it into soil enhancers, avoiding landfill disposal — a major source of methane emissions. This approach not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also transforms waste into valuable resources, creating both environmental and economic benefits for the local community.

Oklin Thailand: A Leader in Sustainable Food Waste Management

Oklin Thailand specializes in advanced food waste composting technology that uses a biological decomposition process to reduce food waste volume by up to 80–90% in just 24 hours. The result is high-quality organic compost suitable for agriculture and green space restoration.

By diverting food waste from landfills, this process significantly reduces methane emissions — a potent greenhouse gas 28 times more harmful than carbon dioxide in terms of global warming potential. Oklin’s operations align closely with ESG principles (Environmental, Social, Governance), ensuring that environmental responsibility is built into the company’s business model.

Stepping Towards a Low-Carbon Society

While 44 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent may seem like a modest figure compared to national emissions, it is a meaningful step that reflects Oklin Thailand’s commitment to operating a business that is socially and environmentally responsible.

As Thailand works towards its Net Zero Emissions target by 2065, real progress will depend on proactive action from all sectors. Oklin Thailand is demonstrating that private enterprises can be a vital driving force in this transition — proving that sustainability and business success can go hand in hand.
